Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate the number of eggs in Macrobrachium pantanalense at different stages of embryonic development, since during period of incubation can result on embryos loss. Ovigerous females were collected in the Pantanal Sul Matogrossense and were selected in two size classes: small (29-40 mm) and large (53-64 mm). Twenty females were selected from each class at each stage of embryonic development (I, II and III). The differences between fertility and egg volume in each size class and embryonic development phase were compared using multifactorial analysis of variance. The fecundity of M. pantanalense increases as the size of females. The volume of eggs increased as embryonic development, being one of the reasons for reducing the number of eggs during incubation.
