(Likely strategies of dispersion and return of brephoepipelagic fishes off Brazil (20ºS í 32º S)

Abstract

Likely strategies of dispersion, permanence in the epipelagic zone and return to the adult habitat of brephoepipelagic fishes collected from stomach of tunas and related species caught with longline in southern Brazil are considered. Seven types of water movements are pointed out as the most important juvenile transport: the Brazilian current, the Brazil deep current, the upwellings, the central shelf current, the coastal current, the eddies and the surface layer impelled to the coast by the winds.
