The objective of this study was to evaluate different dosages from one analogue of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRHa) for induced spawning of Eugerres brasilianus broodstock in captivity. Wild fishes with an average weight of 302.0 ± 45.0 g were kept in cages in estuarine water. There were tested two dosages, 15 µg kg-1 and 30 µg kg-1, and a control group that did not receive hormonal treatment. After induction, fishes were transferred to 500 L tanks in a proportion of two males for each female. Only hormonally induced fish spawned naturally in the tanks after 36 hours, at 26 ± 0.2°C. Fertilization and hatching rates varied from 97 to 100% and 92 to 99% in treatments 15 µg kg-1 and 30 µg kg-1 respectively. The dosage of 15 µg kg-1 of the hormone LHRHa is enough to obtain final maturation and spawning in E. brasilianus broodstock.
