Specific composition, bioecology and the ecomorphology of marine ichthyofauna from small scale fishery

Abstract

The goal of this study was to characterize the marine ichthyofauna originating from small-scale fishing based on taxonomic identification of the species and its commercial, bioecological and ecomorphological. Sampling was conducted fortnightly from July 2013 to July 2014, during the landings of the small scale fishing fleet at Port of Mucuripe, Fortaleza/CE. The specific composition of the ichthyofauna consisted of 41 species, 33 demersal and 8 pelagic. From bio-ecological aspect, 80.0%of the studied species were carnivorous, low commercial value, inhabiting coastal rocky environmentsand presenting a wide variety of ecological niches, characteristics that relate these species with the catching methods employed in fisheries. In ecomorphological study has been found that the target species had a higher capacity to ingest large prey primarily in high hydrodynamic environments and species with no commercial value inhabits the calm areas and feeds on smaller prey.
