Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of maturation in captivity of marine shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in bioflocs system. This is the first research work with the insertion of bioflocs technology in L. vannamei broodstock. It is proposed to use a portable structure to concentrate and elevate the breeders in order to overcome the lack of transparency of the environment. New feed management and water quality management strategies in this alternative system are also proposed. Rearrangements were evaluated for pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, suspended solids, alkalinity, total ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, and the number of spawns, number of eggs/spawn, number of nauplii/spawn and hatching rate, observed during the analysis period. It turned out that the results of reproductive performance and physico-chemical parameters of water quality are consistent with the specific pattern.
