Abstract

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the productive performance and chemical composition of hybrid piavuçu (Leporinus macrocephalus) x piapara (Leporinus elongatus) fingerlings submitted to diets containing different inclusion levels of poultry viscera meal (FV) in substitution of fishmeal (FP). One hundred fingerlings were used with initial mean weight 0.15 ± 0.02 g, distributed randomly in 20 aquariums with 30 L of useful volume, with five treatments and four replications. The feeds were formulated containing 0; 25; 50; 75 and 100% of FV in substitution of FP, being isoproteic and isoenergetic. The fish were fed four times a day until apparently satiety. The zootechnic parameters analyzed were: final weight, weight gain, apparently feed conversion, feed efficiency, feed consumption and survival. There were observed differences (P<0.05) between the substitution levels for weight gain, feed consumption, apparently feed conversion and survival rates. Differences (P<0.05) in the chemical composition of the carcass of fingerlings were not observed. The substitution up to 50% of FP by FV in piaupara (L. macrocephalus x L. elongatus) fingerlings is recommended, without damages to the performance and survival of animals.
