Application of taper cuts fractions in fishing gears
Keywords:
fishing technology, Fridman’s method, fishing gear designAbstract
Different tapering cuts methods are adopted in gear projects aiming to get the optimal gear designs and reduce engineering errors. In this sense, this study designed a bottom trawl project using the Fridman's method that is one of the approaches suggested by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for tapering cuts. The results demonstrated that the Fridman's method showed the necessary requirements for design fishing technology projects. It is possible to accept this, once the calculated values had been implemented. The adjustments adopted culminate in a reduction of differences observed in the transformation of metric measurements to number of meshes. We suggest that the projects can express their dimensions in number of meshes and preferably without technical drawing scale, because it is very difficult to precise these measures. The analysis of the cut patterns calculated and its application showed that the rounds are the main source of design errors.
