Abstract

The histologycal changes of the ovaries Pachyurus bonariensis in the Yacyretá dam, Argentina, were analyzed. The oocytes maturation process is divided in pre-spawning, spawning and post-spawning. The maximum ovarian activity was in spring. The oocytes development was of the synchronic type in more than two groups and the spawning was partial in the mentioned season. The average absolute fecundity was 11,000 oocytes. The correlation between absolute fecundity and gonadal weight was positive. The correlation between absolute fecundity and standard length and body weight was lower.
