Abstract

A limnological study was undertaken in Casquilho and Galharada streams, components of Sapucaí-Guaçu River Basin, aiming the introduction of the trout Salmo irideus Gibbons in those water bodies. Both environments are located at 22o45'S, 45°30'W, mean altitude of 1600 m, at "Parque Estadual de Campos do Jordão" (Campos do Jordão municipality, São Paulo). Samples were taken at monthly intervals during two complete seasonal cycles (April, 1981 to March, 1983). The following parameters were analyzed: air and water temperature, pH, color, turbidity, electric conductivity, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, iron, soluble silica, dissolved oxygen, oxygen saturation, consumed oxygen, calcium, alkalinity, bicarbonate and carbon dioxide.
