Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyses the growth of Oligosarcus jenynsii in Caconde Lagoon, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The specimens (491 males and 517 females) were collected monthly, between July 1992 and June 1993. The growth curve in total length was obtained by von Bertalanffy (1938) expression. The growth curve in total weight was derivate from the growth curve in total length and a weight/length relationship. The formation of the first annuli occurred at second year old and, further, it appears in different times for each sex The values of L∠and W∠obtained for males and females, were 203.9 mm and 75.73 g and 258.7 mm and 162.3 g, respectively.
