Abstract

The present work was carried out at Estação Experimental de SaImonicultura de Campos do Jordão - São Paulo, Brasil (22°45'S, 45°30'W) with the purpose of evaluate the effects of different densities (15, 25 and 35 kg per cubic meter of water) on the growth and productivity of rainbow trout, during the experimental period of 245 days. There were no significant differences in mean weight, feeding efficiency and mortality rate among density groups. The results show that the potential of production in the experimental ponds were not achieved and suggest, for maximize the system, the density of 43 kg per cubic meter
