Abstract

The hystological structure of Pseudoplatystoma corruscans ovaries was studied, with a gonadal maturity scale being established with pre and post-spawning periods. It was observed that the maturity process is continuous; ovocytes in development can be found almost all the year round. Mature ovaries were found between November and February, giving thus evidence of the spawning season.
