Selectivity curve of Gill-nets utilized in catching chimborê, Schizodon nasutus Kner, 1859 (Pisces, Cypriniformes)

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to determine the se1ectivity curve of gill-nets used to catch chimborê, Schizodon nasutus Kner, 1859 (Pisces, Cypriniformes), according to Gulland (1969). The resu1t is:

C*(L)= e^{-0.0277(L í  1.970 m)2}

Where:

C*(L)= relative frequency of retention

 L = total length of the fish

m = perimeter of the mesh.
