(Billings Reservoir São Paulo II. Seasonal variation of phytoplankton)

Abstract

A limnologica1 research was carried out at Billings Reservoir from October, 1977 to September, 1978. Water and phytoplankton samples were collected fortnightly at two stations. Station 1 was located at Rio Grande and station 2, at Rio Pequeno in São Bernardo do Campo, State of São Paulo. A typical seasonal cycle of tropical and subtropical region was investigated, that is, they were considered consecutive periods of rain and drought. The standing stock of the phytoplankton was ana1ysed by organisms counting and chlorophyll- a determination.
