Abstract

Qualitative and quantitative studies of phytoplankton of four gatherings from each one of seventeen reservoirs of São Paulo State, Brazil, were carried out in 1979. A total of 83 genera belonging to the Divisions Chlorophyta, Euglenophyta, Chrysophyta, Pyrrophyta, and Nostocophyta (Cyanophyta) were identified. Chlorophyta was the Division represented by the highest number of genera, while Pyrrophyta showed the lowest one. Algal standing stock was correlated with the trophic level of the reservoirs.
