Abstract

More than 2/3 (83.66%) of Arius spixii, Genidens genidens, Sciadeichthys luniscutis e Netuma barba present gonadal asymmetry in number of ovules. Arius spixii presented positive gonadal asymmetry (to right) and Netuma barba, negative gonadal asymmetry (to left). It was not observed significant difference in the constants a and b of the straight line equation (correlation between fecundidy and standard length) for Sciadeichthys luniscutis and Netuma barba. Arius spixii presented higher fecundity than the other studied catfishes.
