Abstract

Chitinivorous bacteria and fungi infection is the most common disease in prawn of Macrobrachium genus. It was verified that the incidence of this infection is not associated with sex and intermoult cycle in Macrobrachium carcinus population of Ribeira de Iguape River. Nevertheless, the data indicate that the rate of this infection is variable with the season of the year, but accentuated in spring and summer.
