Abstract

This work has for objective to determine the leveI of adaptation of the digestive tract of Prochilodus scrofa to the feeding availability in cultivation conditions in a 1,000 m² concrete ponds, with earth bottom and organic fertilization - chicken manure-on a ratio of 12 ton/ha.year divided in 6 portions. This work also intends to fix the relationships between the biometric variables of the digestive tract and the biometric variables of the fishes. The intestine has showed a growing in exponential length related to the total growing of the fish, while the increase of the intestine weight presented a linear relation to the increase of the total weight of the fish. Prochilodus scrofa showed a feeding ingestion capacity, at each feeding time, of 3.6% of the live weight.
