Abstract

The effect of density (5, 10, and 15 fry/m2) on the development of fries of striped mullet, Mugi! platanus, during October and November 1989, was studied in a freshwater culture pond system at the Centro de Pesquisa em Aquicultura do Vale do Ribeira - Instituto de Pesca, Pariquera-Açu (24o 49'S and 47o 55'W). The analysis of variance did not show significant differences. It was concluded that the rearing of fries of the species in a freshwater culture pond system could be developed at a density of 5 fish/m2.
