Abstract

This paper aimed at evaluating the experimental fishing in the Volta Grande Reservoir during the year of 1995. The interpretation of the data obtained during this year has permitted the following considerations: the number of captured species was 33; Plagioscion squamosissimus and Pimelodus maculatus were those species which have contributed with 88.7% of the total catch; the recommended mesh size to capture Plagioscion squamosisslmus and Pimelodus maculatus were 4.0 and 3.0 centimeters between knots, respectively; the main capture period was correlated with the summer months, and the temperature was the principal factor influencing the catch.
