In this research, developed during the period from October 1973 to September 1975, the main chemical features of the waters of a stretch of the Moji-Guaçu River were considered. This work is part of a study that includes also the investigation of physical and biological features as well the influence of the effluents of sugar-mil factories over limnological characteristics. The variables investigated through sampling and field works at five points, comprised: electrical conductivity, alcalinity, hydrogen potential, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, silica (soluble), iron (total) and oxygen (dissolved). The data show that values of the water characteristics change markedly according to the rainy and dry seasons but do not exhibit sensible variations among the points studied.
