Abstract

This paper is part of an ecological study of Jacaré Pepira River Basin ecosystem. The basin has 2,612 km² and is 170 km long. Its main channel is formed around 22°30'S and 47°55'W at 960 m altitude and discharges into the Tietê River on the right margin (21°55'S and 48°55'W, 400 m altitude). The terrestrial sub-system study was based mainly on the interpretative method of map superposition. Through descriptions and simultaneous interpretations of interrelations among physiographical elements and among these and the soil use in adjacent areas, the recomposition of the Jacaré Pepira Hydrographic Basin was attained.
