Abstract

The habit of consuming fish in the Amazon, whether by abundance of this or preference of consumption, makes this resource a part of the culture and local cuisine. Thus, the pattern of consumption of this complete and rich in nutrients animal protein, as well as its offering in the cities should be analyzed. With semi-structured interviews and analysis of fish offered in the popular fairs and markets, it can be observed that 37.6% of those interviewed have no preference for the type of meat, however, the fish still appears among the most preferred meat (28.7%), which is consumed daily by the majority (69.8%), being the fish scales the preference of 85.3% of those interviewed.
