Nutrition dynamics of "viuvinha" Moenkhausia intermedia Eigenmann, 1908 (Pisces, Characidae), in Ibitinga Reservoir, São Paulo State, Brazil

Abstract

Analyses of seasonal variations of relative frequency of repletion stages (fr), average index of stomach repletion (IÌ"¦r), and condition factor (Ñ"ž) were done, respect to Moenkhausia intermedia in Ibitinga Reservoir. A total of 749 male and female individuals, caught from July/1989 through June/1990 were examined. Relative frequency of demi-full stomachs was reasonably balanced (50% average) during the year, despite a tendency to increase in summer. The index of repletion was not constant, reaching its highest point also in summer. The condition factor curve attained its maximum in spring and its minimum in autumn.
