Abstract

This paper discusses monthly percent pluviograms and the annual hydric balances of Salto Grande Stream Sub-basin, as part of a research project about Jacaré Pepira River Basin that also involves physiography and limnology. The regional climate is characterized by a warm and rainy season (October-March) and a cold and dry one (April-September). Based on the historical data from 1955 to 1988, it was determined that during the "normal year", rains occur along both seasons in the proportion of 80.33% and 19.67%, and the soil looses water from June to August, without reaching hydric deficiency. The climatic parameters registered during the three years of limnological research (April/1985 through March/1988) show an atypical behavior in respect to the regional climate. Over the three years, the drier period started earlier and finished later; as a consequence, the soil showed a relatively high hydric deficiency.
