Abstract

The effect of the daily quantity of food upon tadpoles of bull-frog (Rana catesbeiana Shaw, 1802) was studied in laboratory conditions. The food utilized was a commercial one for rabbit (15% of protein). The food quantities were 7%, 10%, 13%, and 16% of the body weight, being weekly readjusted. During the experimental period (19/5 through 23/06/1980), the animals were kept in 11 x 12 x 4 cm polyethylene boxes, filled with 250 ml of natural spring water. The treatment which revealed the most favorable result was the 13% of body weight of food.
