Probability of occurrence of the freshwater "sardinha” Triportheus angulatus angulatus (Spix) (Osteichthyes, Characidae), in Ibitinga Reservoir (21º46’S í  48º59’W), Medium Tietê River, with preliminary informations of fishery interest

Abstract

It was carried out in the Ibitinga Reservoir (21°46'S - 48°59'W), Medium Tietê River, S. Paulo State, Brazil, an exploratory fishing starting in the beginning of July, 1989 to the end of June, 1990, totalizing 47 twelve-hour night-fishing days. It was verified that Triportheus angulatus angulatus (Spix) occurred on 55.32 of the fishing days, and that this percentage showed no seasonal variations. The number of captured exemplars was bigger in winter decreasing till summer, with a little increase in autumn.
