Induction of ovulation and spawn of yamú, Brycon siebenthale, with mGnRH-a implant

Three treatments with mGnRH-a were used to induce the ovulation and the spawning of yamú (Brycon siebenthalae) and were compared with a treatment using carp pituitary extract - CPE. The application vehicle of the mGnRH-a employed was cholesterol (75%) and cellulose (25%). The CPE was administered by intramuscular via and previous verification of the gonadal maturation state of the females was made by means of ovarian biopsy and presence of semen in the males. The effectiveness of the treatments was determined with the occurrence or not of the spawn, number of liberated eggs, fertilization rate and hatchery rate. Considering the females treated with CPE, 50% spawned and none of those treated with mGnRH-a spawned.
