Abstract

The present paper has the objective of observe the occurrence and the periods of higher captures of species of the genus Trachinotus at Praia Grande of Ilha Anchieta (Ubatuba-SP) as well as to determine their morphometric relations. Monthly collects were realized, with a beach seine ("picaré") net, made of "filó" coith with 2.5 m of length and 1.5 m of height, during the period of June 1983 through December 1984. The fishes after biometry were identified through the number of dorsal and anal fin rays, resulting in the identification of the following species: T. carolinus, T. falcatus, T. goodei and T. marginatus. The highest catches occurred from November through February. The standard length of the body showed to have direct and linear relationship with the total length.
