Resumo

A micobacteriose é uma doença que pode afetar várias espécies de peixes, incluindo-se as espécies utilizadas em criações comerciais. É uma doença crônica, granulomatosa, denominada tuberculose ou, simplesmente, micobacteriose de peixes. Nos últimos anos, é crescente o interesse pela piscicultura em razão da sensí­­vel redução nos estoques pesqueiros. No entanto, a intensificação da criação favorece o desenvolvimento de enfermidades como a micobacteriose, causando prejuí­­zos, principalmente, por se tratar de doença crônica, que não pode ser facilmente notada. Além disso, as micobactérias são ubiquitárias, sendo encontradas na água, solo e poeira. A micobacteriose é conhecida desde 1863, quando Vilemin relatou a tuberculose em peixes e alguns invertebrados, porém pouco se conhece a respeito dessa doença em peixes considerando-se o grande número de espécies. Uma das espécies causadoras de micobacteriose em peixes pode provocar em humanos o granuloma de piscina, doença considerada de origem ocupacional ou recreacional. Este estudo reúne alguns trabalhos sobre micobacterioses, para melhor compreendê-las e, assim, contribuir para a sua prevenção e preservação da saúde do plantel aquí­­cola brasileiro, assim como da saúde humana.
