Abstract

A total of 1,035 females of manjuba, Anchoviella lepidentostole (Fowler, 1911), were analyzed relating the evolution of the gonadal stage to climatic factors, in order to characterize the periods of reproduction. It was observed two reproductive periods: from September to November (Spring) and from March to May (Autumn) in which the mean air temperature varied between 21 and 22°C, the pluviometric index between 390 and 490 mm and the insolation presented va1ues about 4 to 5 hours a day. The number of mature females during the periods of lower insolation (Spring and Autumn) was greater than when the insolation was higher (Summer and Winter).
