Populational biology of Cyphocharax modesta (Hensel, 1869) (Characiformes, Curimatidae) in Lobo Reservoir, São Paulo State. II í Reproduction dynamics and influence of the environment factors

Abstract

The reproduction dynamics of Cyphocharax modesta (Hensel, 1869) collected in Lobo Reservoir (São Paulo) from April, 1993 to May, 1994 is the purpose of this paper. The spawning was determined by the analysis of the maturation curve, based on the variation of the gonadosomatic stage, hepatosomatic index and condition factor. The reproductive period extends from December to January, and the spawning is fractioned. The size and age on the maturation were also determined. The influence of the environment factors to the reproduction of the fish was observed.
