Production of orthophosphate, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate in the cultivation from Litopenaeus vannamei culture using diet with different vegetal and animal protein levels

Abstract

This study evaluates the influence of vegetal protein sources in the water quality. A total of 432 juveniles of L. vannamei shrimp with average weight 2.86 ± 0.09 g were stocked in 24 tanks and fed 4 times a day with 4 different diets and 4 repetitions each. These diets had different animal and vegetal protein levels, respectively: A) 75 and 25%; B) 50 and 50%; C) 25 and 75% and D) commercial feed, during 60 days. The quantity of feed and feeding frequency did not decrease orthophosphate, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate concentrations compared to those in the control treatment (p< 0.05).
