Efeito do uso de diferentes quantidades de substratos artificiais na engorda do camarão marinho Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone, 1931), em sistema de cultivo semi-intensivo

Resumo

O uso de substratos artificiais, que favorece o desenvolvimento do biofilme ou perifí­­ton, aumenta a produtividade planctônica dos viveiros em um espaço tridimensional, beneficiando diretamente organismos oní­­voros de hábitos bentônicos, como os camarões, e favorecendo, indiretamente, ní­­veis mais adequados de qualidade de água ao longo do cultivo. O presente estudo avaliou o efeito do acréscimo de diferentes quantidades de substratos artificiais verticais de alta superfí­­cie (0, 15, 30 e 45% sobre a área de fundo) sobre o crescimento, a sobrevivência, a demanda por ração, a produtividade e a conversão alimentar de juvenis de Litopenaeus vannamei cultivados em cercados dentro de um viveiro de terra em sistema semi-intensivo. Em relação ao grupo controle, não houve melhora em crescimento nem em conversão alimentar (P>0,05), no entanto, independentemente da quantidade de substratos acrescida, a sobrevivência, a produtividade e a demanda por ração foram cerca de 20% superiores (P<0,05). Observou-se um padrão oscilatório e crescente na demanda por ração, provavelmente associada a picos de muda e a estresses ambientais. Mesmo com ampla quantidade de biofilme disponí­­vel, a demanda por ração continuou proporcional í­Â  biomassa cultivada. Os resultados obtidos sugerem que o limiar do efeito de substratos artificiais testados sobre a produção de L. vannamei em sistemas semi-intensivos seja ainda menor que 15% da área de fundo.
