Abstract

The purpose of this work was to compare the development of M. rosenbergii fed with eight different kinds of diets. These were balanced in amino acid term with total nutrients level between 82.8% and 87.9%. The effect of each diet was tested in 22 post-larvae with initial weight of 0.184 g ± 0.06 maintained in tanks of 1000 L of capacity, containing freshwater and biological filtration. Temperature was kept around 28°C ± 1. The feeding was made at afternoon in the proportion of 10% of biomass weight at 1st and 2nd months, 7% at the 3th month and 5% in the 4th and 5th months. Weekly, and during 21 weeks, all the animals was weighed. The results evidenced that the diet containing fish meal (34.8%), soy meal (34.8%), corn meal (17.9%), shrimp carapace meal (5%), soybean oil (5%), binder (2%), attractive-stimulant (0.2%) and vitamin C (0.3%) provided the best development with weight gain and feed conversion average of, respectively, 4 g and 2.86:1.
